The second successfull period in the life of R. starts with the second decade. Immediately after Goethes Faust. Part One (1808) had been noted, thus before Cornelius, R. produced a series of ceonceptions, which were noticed by Goethe with great interest in Dresden in September 1810 (12 sheets Kupferstichkabinett Dresden). Following Goethes suggestions R. had them edited as outline etchings in 1816 (reprinted in 1828: 26 sheets and in 1829, retouched, 29 sheets). The outlines were met with approval - only in 1820 they were reprinted in London - they even influenced the scenical creation of drama (e.g. in Braunschweig in 1829) and continued to exist in artistical terms by the middle of the nineteennth century.
